Bangalore Bio 2006, 7th – 9th June 2006, supported by the Department of IT and Biotechnology, Government of Karnataka and the Vision Group on Biotechnology, was successfully inaugurated on 7th June, at the Palace Grounds, Bangalore by Shri. Kapil Sibal, Hon'ble Union Minister for Science & Technology, GOI, Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Karnataka.
The Distinguished Guests of Honour present were H.E. Sir Michael Arthur, British High Commissioner to India, H.E. Mr. E.F.Ch. Over 72 national and international speakers, 600 conference delegates, 120 exhibitors, 20,000 business visitors from over 15 countries, various states of India, came together for the premier annual event for the biotechnology industry - Bangalore Bio 2006 - The Biggest Biotech Show in the Asia-Pacific region.

The event this year had a strong international participation from the European Union, Holland, France, the UK, Germany, Japan, Belgium, Bavaria, Pennsylvania, and Singapore. There was also a very strong domestic participation. Various state governments like Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh had their presence.
