Highlights of the Expo
The Bangalore Bio 2004, the fourth edition of State's annual biotechnology tradeshow this year attracted more than 50,000 business visitors and general visitors. The Bangalore Bio 2004 event was inaugurated on 11th July 2004 at the Palace Grounds, Bangalore by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri Dharam Singh. The three-day event was received with overwhelming response from delegates, exhibitors, scientists and bureaucrats from across the globe. The trade show attracted over 100 organisations 19 of them from the International biotechnology community.

Highlights of the Conference
Mr. H.E. Korn Thapparansi, Minister for Science and Technology Thailand delivered the Inaugural Address and the Keynote Address was given by Dr. M. K. Bhan Secretary Government of India, Dept. of Biotechnology. Delegates from Japan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Australia, Philippines, Russia, Belgium, USA, Cuba, France and Spain, besides Thailand and Germany participated in the conference. Fifteen foreign delegations participated in the three-day conference, which also marked the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between India and Germany for setting up a technology bridge to forge alliance between the two countries.

CEO Conclave
MWG Biotech's Launch of Indian operations marked the occasion of the CEO Conclave. It was a Special Industry Get-together of over 300 distinguished people coming from diverse backgrounds forming the Who's Who of the Biotech Sector. Dr. Bala S. Manian, CEO of ReaMetrix Inc., USA delivered the Vision Talk on the topic "Biotechnology - the reality of the promise."

Awards Nite
During the Awards Nite, Sri. Siddaramaiah Hon. Dy. Chief Minister Karnataka felicitated Padma Awardees Dr. G. Padmanaban, Dr. M. Vijayan and Dr. Prakash for their outstanding contributions to the field of Science and technology during this event.
