The first ever Summit on the subject in India was Inauguration at the hands of Hon'ble Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Minister for Health, Govt. of India. The Participation was from cross section of Organisations like: Basic ingredients and abstract manufacturers, Food, Food tech, Pharma, Ayurved, Agro & Agrotech, Equipments, Packaging, Marketing Consultants, Management Consultants, Advertising.

Highlights of the Conference
Inaugurated at the hands Hon'ble Smt. Sushma Swaraj with the Key Note address presented by Dr. R A Mashelkar.
Participation came from Corporate leaders, Small and medium scale companies in: Food and food processing, herbal and herbal processing, pharma, bio-tech, Agri business, Packaging, Research Institutes, Government organisations, trading houses, financial institutions, consulting firms, nutrition experts, policy makers.

Special Note
One of the major roadblocks for the Nutraceutical industry in India is various regulatory issues. The 1st Nutraceutical Summit addressed these issues forcefully. Half a day panel discussion sought participation from entire cross section of the industry, Scientific fraternity and some key policy makers. At the end of the panel discussions through Bombay Declaration set of recommendations were made to the policy makers.
We are glad to mention here that most of these recommendations were accepted by Mashelkar committee appointed by Ministry of Health, Govt. of India for further consideration
